Over two weeks ago, we had reported that Saab will be showing their new Saab 9-1 Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, and we’ve all been ardently waiting for more info since. As a bonus for our long wait, GM officially announced today, together with a teaser image, that Saab would be releasing a whole new concept car called “Saab 9-1X” at Geneva next month.
The image does not show any essential details of the car, although it’s obvious that it has slight similarities to the Saab Aero-X Concept. This new hatch is apparently pitted against rivals such as the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3, and Volvo C30, securing itself a new warm place in the premium compact segment.
No further details were announced, but from what we know, it will be based on the Opel Astra platform. Engine options on the other hand might be between the 1.4, 1.6 or 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol versions, and the BioPower version.
